一、文本分析

Toms Special Day来自《丽声北极星分级绘本五年级下》(江苏版),介绍了Tom的朋友们为Tom准备生日惊喜的故事。本文为记叙文,通过讲述Tom的生日即将到来,但是他并没有任何计划,因此他的朋友们想给他一个惊喜。生日当天,Tom通过一系列的线索找到了大家送给他的生日礼物这一故事,突出“生日Birthday”的主题。

1[What] 主题意义和主要内容

本文通过讲述Tom的朋友们为他准备生日惊喜的故事,引出了“生日和友谊”的话题。Tom的生日即将到来,但是他并没有任何计划,因此他的朋友们想给他一个惊喜。生日当天,朋友们给Tom一张卡片,Tom根据卡片上的线索一,找到了稻草人,根据稻草人的鞋子里的线索二,找到了一颗苹果树,接着根据苹果树上的线索三,来到了一个有红色大门的谷仓,根据门后的线索四,发现一个鸟屋,在鸟屋里发现的线索五,帮助他找到了朋友们送他的生日礼物。多么特别的一份生日惊喜呀!

2[Why] 写作意图

作者通过介绍Tom的朋友们为他准备生日惊喜的故事,引出了“Birthday”的话题。故事中的Tom通过朋友们一系列的线索找到了这份特别的生日惊喜,在分享故事的同时,也启发读者思考:在朋友过生日时,我们该如何为他留下美好的回忆,激发读者对友谊的珍惜。  

3[How] 文体结构和语言修辞

全文共分为三个部分,第一部分是Tom的生日即将到来,但是他没有任何计划,因此他的朋友们准备给他一个惊喜;第二部分呈现了Tom寻找线索的全过程;第三部分是Tom根据线索找到了朋友们为他准备的生日惊喜。本文主要使用一般现在时,还出现了一般将来时(We are going to play a game./ Where are we going?/It will be at the farm.)。通过Tom的生日即将到来,朋友们和Tom展开对话交流的情节,呈现主要句型“When is your birthday?Its on ...What do you do on your birthday?”,在句型的基础上,学习核心词汇“birthday, eleventh, April, together, number, eighth, play, game, answer”。 全文配以鲜艳的手绘图片完整呈现了Tom根据线索寻找生日惊喜的过程。绘本最后的story map以图片的形式梳理了Tom生日惊喜的故事。

二、学情分析

本故事与江苏译林版英语五年级下册第八单元内容契合度高,适合作为拓展阅读的素材。本节课的授课对象是五年级学生,经过教材内容设计苏海、迈克两人的生日活动内容的学习,学生对生日话题已经不陌生,并且已经掌握了与该话题相关的一定量的词汇和句型。重点句型为“When’s your birthday?/ It’s on.../What do you do on your birthday?”但是,对于在生日前如何为朋友准备惊喜的英语表达,学生还需要更好的引导和学习。对于文中出现的together, number, answer等词汇需要在阅读过程中进一步感知词汇发音,理解具体含义。五年级学生对英语有了一定的学习基础和兴趣,在课堂上能积极参与各项活动,乐于用英语表达,这为课堂教学的成功创造了良好条件。  

三、教学目标

    在本节课学习结束时,学生能够:

1)学会使用句型 “Whens your birthday?/ Its on.../What do you do on your birthday?”进行简单的对话。

2)提取Tom的朋友们提供给他的生日惊喜线索信息,以小语篇的形式进行梳理、复述;

3)选取其中线索的相关情节,小组合作表演朋友帮助Tom拿到线索的过程;

4)通过阅读,能体会主人公积极探索的精神和朋友、家人给予他的关爱之情,并从中学会感恩、关爱他人。

四、教学重难点

1)学会使用句型 “Whens your birthday?/ Its on.../What do you do on your birthday?”进行简单的对话。

2)提取Tom的朋友们提供给他的生日惊喜线索信息,以小语篇的形式进行梳理、复述;

Read and answer:

When is Toms birthday? Its on the 11th of April.

What does Tom do on his birthday? Nothing much.

Guess the meaning from the picture and the sentence.  没什么特别的。

To surprise Tom, What do his friends do? They meet at Jacks house and make some cards.

2.On the special day:P5-19

T:How many cards do they make? Six(1+5).

 What are the cards for? Lets take a look.

The first card is for the invitation.

  Read the card: Good morning Tom, come outside. Get on your bike. Lets go for a ride!

  T:What do you find in common? outside,bike,ride

  Read with the music.

  Help Tom give a reply like this too.
